Is there any type of GPR equipment designed for a permanent installation for live monitoring of a particular area? I.e. I want to image the ground underneath a particular building. I assume this would involve driving probe antennas into the ground at various locations. Does this offer better or worse depth and detection than a standard cart GPR?

In astronomy, there's something called very long baseline interferometry which is way to greatly increase resolution by live coupling of separate telescopes (or an array of telescopes). I was thinking for a permanent installatin of GPR with a bunch of probe antennas, something like this might be possible with the right software. I.e., getting better imaging than a cart GPR using interferometry. Alas, I went into electrical engineering and not physics, but it's a thought.

Hi generalzod,
You are on the right track, an array of antennas would give you a better picture, but unfortunately will also mean
higher costs.
Best regards,
